Our Story

Welcome to Barncliffe Day Nursery.

Our journey began in 2012, when the nursery was lovingly founded and led by Maxine Wheatley, a local mum who poured her heart and soul into creating a nurturing place for children and families.

In September 2021, Karen and her then business partner took the next chapter forward. From the very beginning, Karen fell in love with the nursery’s welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere and its beautiful surroundings. Inspired by its potential, she was excited to bring her love of early years and creative vision to life.

In August 2024, Karen proudly became the sole owner of Barncliffe Day Nursery. Today, she manages the nursery alongside her passionate and dedicated team, continuing to create an inspiring play based environment with a warm, homely feel—where children and the family community at the heart of everything we do.
